The instruments

Every instrument sits in the photo where you see it. On a computer, rest the mouse on one to read its name and how to play it. A short tap plays it and opens its panel. Holding does the playing gesture, like making a bowl sing or rolling the gong.

Tap the window to let some wind in, and tap it again to close it. Tap an empty part of the room to close a panel.

The handpan with its label on top: SERENITY HANDPAN, tap to play a note
Rest the mouse on an instrument to see its name
  • BowlsTwelve Tibetan singing bowls. Tap to play, hold to make a bowl sing.
  • CrystalsCrystal singing bowls. Tap to play, hold to make one sing.
  • HandpanTap to play a note.
  • GongTap to strike, hold to roll.
  • DidgeridooOpen its panel to play the drone. A tap on the photo opens it without a sound.
  • ForksEight tuning forks. Tap to strike one.
  • ChimesSweep across the tubes.
  • HarpTap to play, hold and slide across the strings.
  • MonochordTap to strum. Open its panel for the E-BOW drone.

Instrument panels

Each instrument has its own panel. It slides up from the bottom with the instrument, a short line on how to play it, and its controls.

The Serenity Bowls panel with DRONE and MELODY switched on and the LULLABY melody chosen
  • DroneA sustained sound that keeps going while you play on top. Some instruments offer drone styles in the list under the buttons: RUB or WAH on the bowls, ONE or CHORD on the crystal bowls, WASH or FLUMI on the gong.
  • MelodyThe instrument plays melodies on its own. Pick one in the MELODY list under the buttons. DRONE and MELODY run separately, so both can be on at once.
  • StopFades that instrument out. It comes back as soon as you play it again.
  • DefaultPuts the controls of that panel back where they started.
  • ✕Closes the panel.
  • SlidersAlong the bottom: the volume and the tone controls of that instrument, like MALLET, BREATH and RING on the bowls.
III

Melodies

MELODY is on six instruments: the bowls, crystal bowls, handpan, tuning forks, chimes and harp. The gong, didgeridoo and monochord play DRONE only.

Each MELODY list starts with the melodies of that instrument, then the same seven shared melodies under SHARED: Rising Falling Pendulum Call and answer Lullaby Mantra Sparse

TipTry the same shared melody on two instruments, for example LULLABY on the harp and on the crystal bowls, with a drone underneath.

IV

Tuning forks and Musical Sync

The forks panel has two boxes at the bottom. Its labels show each fork with its pitch in Hz.

The Serenity Forks panel with MUSICAL SYNC ticked: the eight forks show notes from A3 216 Hz to C#5 544 Hz
  • Musical sync offThe eight forks keep their classic pitches: OM 136.1, 396, 417, 432, 528, 639, 741 and 852 Hz.
  • Musical sync onThe forks tune to the scale and key chosen at the top of the room, and each label shows its note and Hz. The fork drone follows the same key.
  • Binaural +4HzEach fork sounds 4 Hz apart between your left and right ear. Wear headphones for this one, as the label says.
  • DefaultTurns MUSICAL SYNC off again.

TipThe bowls and the gong have a MUSICAL SYNC box too. It softens the overtones that would clash with the scale of the room.

V

The didgeridoo

Hold the didgeridoo in its panel to play the drone, and slide along it to open and close the mouth. DRONE keeps it going on its own.

The Serenity Didgeridoo panel with its sliders: VOLUME, SUB, PULSE, DEPTH, SPEED, AIR, ATTACK and RELEASE
  • PulseChoose how the drone moves: STEADY, DRIFT, BREATH or RANDOM.
  • AttackHow the drone comes in, from a quick start to a slow swell of up to 5 seconds.
  • ReleaseHow long the drone takes to fade when it stops, up to about 10 seconds.
  • Sub, depth, speed, airShape the low end, the movement and the air of the drone. Move them while it plays and listen.
VI

Start a sound bath

A sound bath plays the whole room on its own, from an opening gong to a quiet ending. Everything sits in the bar at the top.

The top bar during a sound bath: START SOUND BATH, STOP, MUSICAL SYNC OFF, SCALE HEALING 432 HZ, KEY AUTO, 20 MIN, and the reading ARRIVAL 00:04 of 20:00
  • ▶ Start sound bathA gong opens the session and the instruments come in a few seconds later. Any DRONE or MELODY you switched on in a panel turns off.
  • Length5, 10, 20, 30, 45 or 60 MIN, or ENDLESS. It stays fixed while the bath plays.
  • ReadingShows the part of the session and the time, for example ARRIVAL · 00:04 / 20:00. The parts are Arrival, Deepening, Immersion, Release and Stillness.
  • GongsA timed bath sounds a gong halfway and another at the end, then shows SESSION COMPLETE. ENDLESS keeps going until you stop it.
  • StopFades everything out over a few seconds.
  • Musical syncOFF plays every instrument with its natural sound. ON keeps the whole bath in one scale: the handpan sings, the harp joins and the instruments take turns.
  • ScaleHEALING · 432 HZ, SOLFEGGIO · 528, CELTIC · DORIAN, ANCESTRAL · PENTATONIC, MYSTIC · HIRAJOSHI, DESERT · HIJAZ, EARTH · MAJOR PENTATONIC or WATER · KOSHI.
  • KeyAUTO, or any of the twelve keys from C to B.

TipYou can change the scale, the key or MUSICAL SYNC while a bath plays. The room moves to the new setting smoothly, at the same point of the session.

VII

The Instruments mixer

INSTRUMENTS, at the right of the top bar, opens the mixer for the whole room.

The INSTRUMENTS mixer: a name and a volume slider for each instrument, plus DRONE and WIND, with DEFAULT at the bottom
  • Tap a nameTurns that instrument on or off in sound baths. It still plays when you tap it by hand.
  • SlideSets its volume. Each slider is the same as the VOLUME in that instrument panel.
  • DroneThe steady tone under every sound bath.
  • WindOpens or closes the window and sets how loud the wind is.
  • DefaultPuts every level back.

TipWhen something is switched off, the button shows a count next to INSTRUMENTS, so you can tell at a glance that the mix is not complete.

VIII

The Sound drawer

SOUND opens a small drawer with the space of the room and the bed under the sound bath. VOLUME, next to it, is the master volume.

The SOUND drawer: ROOM slider, DRONE ON, LEVEL slider, SEED 881863 and NEW SEED EACH SESSION
  • RoomHow much the room echoes.
  • Drone on · levelSwitches the steady tone under every sound bath on or off, and sets its level.
  • SeedEvery sound bath grows from a six digit number. NEW SEED EACH SESSION gives you a new one each time. Tap it to lock the seed (SEED LOCKED · SAME SESSION), or type your own number.

TipThe room remembers your key, MUSICAL SYNC, the mixer and the volume in this browser, so it opens the way you left it.

IX

My Sessions

Play the room by hand and record it. Then the room plays your session back on its own, in the scale and key you choose, for the length set in the bar.

The MY SESSIONS drawer with RECORD A SESSION and two saved sessions, each with PLAY, SAVE FILE and a delete button
  • ● Record a sessionStarts recording what you play by hand: strikes, rubs, and any DRONE or MELODY you switch on. The button turns into ■ SAVE SESSION with the time.
  • ■ Save sessionKeeps it as SESSION 1, SESSION 2 and so on, with its length, the number of notes and the scale it was recorded in.
  • ▶ PlayPlays your session back in the scale and key chosen now. It repeats with small changes until the length in the bar runs out. With ENDLESS it keeps going until you stop it.
  • Save fileDownloads the session as a small .json file.
  • ✕Deletes that session.

TipSessions live in this browser only, up to 12, and the oldest goes first. They are not saved to your account.

X

Record to WAV

REC records everything you hear into a WAV file: your hands, the sound bath, the drone and the room. It is part of the full room.

The RECORDINGS drawer with one take: its name, a player, DOWNLOAD WAV and DELETE
  • ● RecStarts recording, and the button shows the time. Press it again to stop.
  • RecordingsAppears after your first take, with a count. Each take has a player, DOWNLOAD WAV and DELETE.
  • The fileWAV, 16 bit stereo, named after the room, the scale, the key and the date. The level does not depend on the VOLUME slider.
  • LengthEach take stops on its own at 30 minutes.

TipEvery take is also saved to your library, under Your Recordings. If you close the tab with a take you have not downloaded, the room asks first.

Questions

Is the Sound Healing Room free?

Signing in is free. Then you can play the Tibetan bowls, the crystal bowls and the handpan by hand for as long as you like. The window, the mixer, the SOUND drawer, the scale and key, and recording a session in MY SESSIONS work too.

Everything that plays on its own (a sound bath, a DRONE or MELODY, or replaying one of your sessions) has one free minute a day in your browser. A notice tells you when 15 seconds are left.

What does the full room add?
  • The gong, didgeridoo, tuning forks, chimes, monochord and harp.
  • Sound baths, drones and melodies with no time limit.
  • REC, with every take as a WAV, also saved to your library.

Open the full room from the unlock card in the room: tap any locked instrument. It is a one-time purchase for lifetime access, and it is also part of the Serenity Suite.

In free play, the gong label reads SERENITY GONG, FULL ROOM, TAP TO UNLOCK
I own Serenity. How do I open the full room?

Sign in with the email you bought Serenity with. The full room opens on its own.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The room runs in your browser on a computer, tablet or phone. You only sign in, with Google or with your email and a code. Chrome or Edge work best.

Do I need headphones?

No, the room plays through speakers too. Headphones help: the drones and the gong live low, and headphones carry them best. The BINAURAL +4Hz box on the tuning forks is the one setting made for headphones.

Can I download what I play?

Yes, with the full room. REC saves a WAV of everything you hear. Download it from RECORDINGS, or later from your library, under Your Recordings. In MY SESSIONS, SAVE FILE downloads a session as a .json file.

Can I use my recordings in music or videos?

The license page covers the sounds we sell. For recordings made in the room, write to admin@alchemyaural.com before you publish one.

Where are my sessions saved?

MY SESSIONS lives in the browser you recorded them in, up to 12 sessions, and is not tied to your account. Another browser or device starts empty. With the full room, REC takes also go to your library.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. The controls stack in rows, and the instrument names appear at the bottom when the photo is cropped. Turn the phone sideways to see the whole room. On a phone a tap plays right away, since there is no mouse to show the labels.

I hear nothing. What should I check?

Tap an instrument: the first tap wakes the sound. Check the VOLUME slider in the top bar and the volume of your device. In the INSTRUMENTS mixer, an instrument that is switched off stays silent in sound baths.

How do I get help?

The help page covers signing in, your library and downloads. You can also ask the assistant in the corner of this page, or write to admin@alchemyaural.com from the email you sign in with.

Ready when you are.
